PROBA-2 SATELLITE of ESA

Was launched to validate new spacecraft technologies while also carrying scientific instruments. PROBA2 is a small satellite (130 kg) developed under an ESA General Support Technology Program (GSTP) for a mission until 2020

TNO Defense and Security produced 4 Cool Gas Generators for the Proba-2 satellite of ESA, that were cleared and accepted by ESA in 2005.

In 2009, this satellite was launched and in 2011 and 2012 the first Cool Gas Generators were deployed successfully. These Cool Gas Generators are used to pressurize the propulsion system of the satellite with nitrogen to keep it on track in orbit. Pressurized gas cylinders can’t be launched into space because of their weight, Cool Gas Generators can because they contain a non-pressurized chemical gas storage technology that produces nitrogen gas at ambient temperature when initiated. EXXFIRE turned this robust technology into a game changing fire suppression system.
